PAT1 Casa a ville sovrapposte
The building, located on Viale Beatrice d’Este in the south-eastern part of Milan, has a distinctive trapezoidal form, with a strong longitudinal emphasis. The project has a bold architectural identity that sets it apart within the surrounding urban area, while also complementing it.
Project Overview:
The complex is arranged over seven levels above ground. The base band, characterised by cantilevered geometries, is a neutral volume on which a few openings stand out, marked by a green colour, in strong relation to the surrounding greenery.
The building, with a contemporary feel, is in continuity with the urban context, despite having a certain “anti-mimetic” configuration. On the ground floor, aluminium thermal break frames, bespoke reveals and emergency exits have been installed. All the water systems and drainage outlets were designed to measure and installed on iron structures to support the panels. The specific colour and particular geometric shapes to be realised prompted the use of composite panels consisting of two external aluminium sheets and a core of mineral substances, ideal for their ductility and ease of processing. The difficulties encountered in the architectural forms required a three-dimensional design process, including the reveals, which create depth and movement in the structure, but also give an overall liveliness thanks to their bright green colour.
