Studio Legale Withers
Located at 18 Via Durini in Milan, the nerve centre of business in Italy, Withers law firm was founded in London in 1986. Today, the integrated consultancy boasts a global network spanning four continents, with around twenty offices in eighty different countries.
Project overview:
The Milan studio is located in a historic building, in the beating heart of the city. Its offices extend over three floors and a terrace is used as a meeting and conference room. The attic floor has undergone structural redevelopment.
A veranda has been created with façade modules and capping sheets forming the gutter channel. The sheet metal cladding was designed and developed to conceal the drop-down blackout blinds located along the entire façade. The various fixing systems and support brackets were designed to adapt to the existing steel structures, thereby allowing the anchoring of the various claddings and blinds.
Particular attention was paid to the junctions between the roof and the glazing, with the application of insulating materials to prevent any infiltration. Overall, the veranda defines the project with its minimalist yet at the same time visible lines.
The choice of black stands out in the context, drawing attention to the play of shadows created by the drop-down blinds. The mullions inside the building are furnishing elements that mark the rhythm between one pane and the next. In the classical and historic setting of Via Durini, this modern touch stands out for its elegance and personality.
