Trafilerie Bergamasche Mazzoleni
The subject of the project is the restoration of the Mazzoleni Wire Drawing Works, a historic industry producing steel wire and metallurgical products located in the heart of Bergamo, with more than a century of activity. The project is entirely dry-built and is characterised by an essential form, marked both by an alternation of light and dark tones and by a pattern that changes according to the direction of the sun.
Project Overview:
Rebuilt on its original footprint, the building houses administrative offices and contributes to the urban regeneration of the Gewiss Stadium area. It echoes the form of the pre-existing warehouse and redefines its relationship with the public space through a setback that creates a small square.
The compact, essential volume reinterprets the "factory" in a contemporary style, with a dynamic skin inspired by steel wires. Built using prefabrication over two levels, it combines a metal structure with innovative construction solutions.
The facade alternates white concrete and burnished window frames, reacting to light. The double-height glazed entrance leads into industrial-style interiors featuring exposed materials and colour contrasts, complemented by shimmering metallic finishes.
