Casa Bona
From the shell of an old barn, “Casa Bona” was born, a renovation project that highlights the contrast between the aesthetic lines of the existing structure and the newly built construction elements introduced by the project.
Project Overview:
Windows and French doors are divided into regular panes through the use of horizontal steel-look glazing bars... echoing the pre-existing rural style.
If the perspective and material continuity of the existing façade has been preserved on the street front, in the inner courtyard, between the vertical structures of the original pillars, bespoke windows have been created, characterised by understated painted aluminium profiles. Casement profiles whose minimalism has been accentuated by the distinctive 45° slanted shape of the glazing beads. The windows and French doors are also divided into regular panes by the use of horizontal steel-look glazing bars both internally and externally to the glass, echoing the pre-existing rural style.
The interior space is marked by a double-height living area, which reveals the light-painted timber roof structure. The space is accessed through a single-leaf front door with inward pivot opening, clad in colour-matched aluminium sheet, concealed leaf and glazing bars applied both internally and externally, echoing the window design. For all the walls of the house, a soft shade was chosen to provide chromatic contrast with the handcrafted iron staircase, echoing the clean, dark lines of the frames. Overall, the project succeeds in respecting the original structure of the rural stylistic heritage, perfectly combining tradition with the client’s personal style.
